Hi There – As you are on my blog it would be rude not to introduce myself. I am a regular 30 something male from the South East of England.
Early Life
I am fortunate to say I had a good childhood with loving parents. Being an only child, I was admittedly spoilt whilst being from a working class family, so it wasn’t always the case that I would get what I wanted or the newest toys/clothes, but I had things easy and was a relatively lazy person.

Like almost every young boy in England, I only ever dreamt of being a footballer and had no real plans of what I wanted to do when I grew up. With no real interest in a particular career field, I went to university to gain and Accounting & Finance degree, to delay going into the full time workforce and keep with partying going. It was also a degree that my parents saw as acceptable to go to university for.

Early Adulthood
After University, I got a job in Accounts in London which I hated, then got a 1 year Finance Apprenticeship also in the City. In this year I managed to save up a bit of cash and when the contract ended, I was off to Australia on a years working holiday. The best year of my life.

Upon arriving back to the UK, I had to go back to the city and the 9-5:30 and spending my weekends hungover. Surely this isn’t what I’m going to do for the rest of my life……..

Covid-19 and the finding of Financial Independence
During 2020 I discovered to concept of Financial Independence. Reading Mr. Money Moustache’s blog I was enthralled by the concept of escaping the rat race and finding my freedom. I opened up my stocks and shares ISA and have been on the journey to gain Financial Independence since, recently reaching £100K in liquid assets.
Initially I was skimping on all expenses, putting as much as I can into my investments, but with perspective there is now emphasis on balancing the wants and needs of today, as well as the future. There are some things that need to be experienced and enjoyed earlier in life.
This blog will document my trials and tribulations of trying to achieve this balance, highlighting when I may fail in this also.
